The heat is on! Please bring hats and umbrellas, wet towels around your neck. There is little shade at the start activities. There will be water before, during and refreshments following. Dogs can be sprayed with mist bottles or water poured on for cooling. The river is in flood so we best keep away from it! Fully accessible, this is a 2.5 km scooter-friendly route, and the first person to register with a scooter or mobility aid shall receive a prize. Also, the first team (3 dogs or more) to register shall receive a prize. Please notify me if you may be eligible for these prizes. Of course there will be more great prizes and activities at the event! Challenge a friend to "Pucker up for Pooches" at the dog kissing stand. Call to volunteer or for more information. See you there!
Dog Guides are provided at no cost to people with a physical or medical disability. Thanks to national sponsors, 100% of the funds raised from the Pet Valu Walk go directly to the six Dog Guide training programs. Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides have provided specially trained Dog Guides to over 2,500 eligible Canadians from coast to coast at no cost despite costing $25,000 to train and place and no government funding. With your help, more people can experience the mobility, safety and independence a devoted Dog Guide brings.
