WHY I DO IT
Sunday 28th AprThe Walk for Dog Guides is an event that is near and dear to my heart. Many times I have been asked why I put so much of my time and energy into coordinating the Kingston walk. I had my first dog guide from LFCDG, I was shocked to find out that they don't receive any government funding and rely solely on donations. There main yearly fundraising event is through the Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides that's organized in over 200 cities across Canada. It costs LFCDG $35,000 to breed, raise, train and place just one of their dogs who will assist a person with a medical or physical disability like me. The other amazing thing about LFCDG is that they train 7 different types of service dogs!
All 3 of my Service dogs Lulu, Chase, and now Ellie have changed my life so much. I can’t imagine living without one of them. The amount of safety as well as immense independence they have given me. Beyond the Unconditional Love.
I would like to see LFCDG to have the same impact on other people with disabilities.
I can only wish for LFCDG’s to be able to continue to provide these life changing Dog Guides to others requiring them.
