Please Support My Walk for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides

Hi everyone,

I am  proud to be participating in the Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides on May 31, 2026, in Mississauga in support of the incredible work of Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides provides specially trained Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities at no cost to them. These amazing dogs support individuals living with vision or hearing loss, epilepsy, diabetes, autism, medical or physical disabilities, and professionals working in trauma response settings. 

What many people don’t realize is that each Dog Guide costs approximately $35,000 to breed, raise, train, and place, yet recipients receive them completely free thanks to donations, volunteers, and fundraising events like this walk. The organization receives no government funding. 

The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is their largest national fundraiser, helping support more than 800 active Dog Guides across seven specialized programs. 

Donations help provide:
• Veterinary care and food
• Puppy raising and foster programs
• Specialized training equipment
• Client transportation and accommodations during training
• Lifetime follow-up support for Dog Guide teams 

They are also always looking for caring volunteer foster families and puppy raisers to help socialize future Dog Guides during their first year.
