This May, help me “walk across Canada” to give more Canadians a new leash on life!

From guiding their handlers through their daily lives to getting help when it's needed most, Dog Guides play a crucial role in the lives of Canadians with disabilities. By supporting me with a donation to the Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides, you are enabling Lions Foundation to fulfill their mission to empower Canadians with disabilities to navigate their world with confidence and independence by providing Dog Guides at no cost to them and supporting each pair in their journey together.

Please donate now and support me in my challenge!

Your help means so much

Thursday 6th May
When I first heard about the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide program, I knew right away it was something I wanted to be involved with. I soon joined the North Oshawa Lions Club, making it my mission to participate and help support this cause. There had been no walk in the Oshawa area, so together with my new club, we did our first Pet Valu Walk for Guide Dogs in the fall 2019. I have fundraised for different things before, but never in a lead role, uncharted territory. A real learning curve, especially for someone who never likes to ask for help. Today, I am asking for your help, because this foundation more than ever needs our help. Our regular lives have slowed down, and some things have stopped all together due to our present world situation, but they have not. They have adapted to a change of protocol, with dedication and hard work. The staff and volunteer foster families know just how important the training from a future guide dog pup, to the training of the recipients is. These dogs change a persons life, their families lives, simple things most of us take for granted. It cost approximately $25,000 per dog from puppy to being placed in its new home at no cost! They get no government assistance and rely on donations from you and I. Today, I am asking for your help and support for a cause that fills my heart ❤️ Every little bit will help towards helping to make someone’s life feel safer, be more independent. If you can’t pledge my walk, please consider joining my walk in Oshawa, and ask your friends and family to pledge you. #walkforguidedogs
